Oops.

I thought KDKA was in Philly. Why would he split for Pittsburgh? Closer to home I guess...he's from Ohio...unless I have that wrong too.

Check out http://www.kdkaradio.com/pages/419350.php

Apparently we were just a stepping stone. This must have been in the works for a while. WTN could not have snatched up Ralph so quickly.

I was upset with WTN at first for not saying something, but looking back it is more apparent that Kevin left for bigger - better things up in the beltway. It's closer to Washington, and I think that's his target. I'm not upset at Kevin for making the move, but I do wish that he would have at least told his audience that he was leaving...maybe legal/contract issues prevent that.

Moving forward...I like Ralph. His views challenge mine a bit more than Kevin's did...so as Ralph says, I get a bit more of a mental work-out listening to him.

Yeah, it's a shame that Kevin's no longer on the air at WTN. I found him to be very down-to-earth and entertaining. He came across as a real human being, and wasn't afraid to reveal his imperfections to his audience. That's sort of endearing, if you ask me.

Plus, his background is inspiring: a former soldier who graduated from college and taught in the public school system before following his dream and working for free at a radio station somewhere up north. From what I gathered, he's been bouncing from station-to-station since then, slowly moving up the ladder. I know Nashville's not the biggest city in the world, but I image it's a pretty big deal to get your own radio show in a market of this size.

I'm also angry that WTN didn't offer its listeners any explanation for why Kevin (or any host for that matter) was taken off the air. I imagine he was fired for some reason, because I heard the news that he did some fill-in work at a station in Pittsburgh (see above post).

I wish Kevin the best of luck wherever he lands next. The community that gets him will be lucky to have him, that's for sure. I'll miss Kevin's humility and humbleness. But maybe that's not what gets ratings -- maybe people want another Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.

I, for one, would rather have someone unique who cares about our community and doesn't view the job simply as a stepping stone for the next gig.

Miller later moved "Miller in the Morning" to SuperTalk 99.7 WTN in Nashville, Tennessee, which ran only a few months from August 2006 to March 2007. He has filled in recently for Fred Honsberger on Pittsburgh's KDKA during Fred's Easter vacation.

Since Kevin left, I won't be listening in the mornings either. If WTN doesn't have the respect or courtesy to let its listeners know that their morning host has been removed then I do not care to listen to their programming in the mornings and possibly any other timeframe. If he needed to be let go for serious reasons, then that's fine. But making me listen to Laura Ingram(sp?) in the mornings for weeks and then bring Ralph on with no announcement that Kevin was leaving really irks me. The only shows I still like are Dave and Phil so I guess I'll find something else in the mornings, like Jerry House or some other show. However, this Mr. Degornio(sp? again) reminds me much of Kevin in his voice and conviction.

Tim,

I didnt like Kevin's show and up to this point, I am not a fan of Ralphs either.

G. Gordon Liddy can only speak a coherent sentence when he is reading from a news article or a quote by someone else.

(I do agree with most of what these three men believe though)

WWTN needs to give O'Reilly some air time and do everything they can to keep Uncle Phil on the lineup.

I can see why you folks might have reservations about Ralph...no one likes the guy who took the place of their preferred host. It is a tough situation for everyone. Tough for Kevin, tough for Ralph, tough for the listeners.

Radio stations are pretty cutthroat...and frequently heartless.

IF they keep Ralph around for a while, you might grow to enjoy him.

Who knows, someday we might be having this conversation about "what happened to Ralph? Man, this new guy stinks that they replaced him with."
