Hmmm…..no Kevin Miller this morning. Found that odd. I called WTN just now and spoke to the lady who answered the phone and all she knew, or would say, is that he was cancelled and Wednesday was his last day.
She said that anyone who called the station was to be directed to the program manager, but I didn’t bother. I didn’t think they’d tell me what happened. If you want to call and try to find something out, call 321-1067.
The lady I spoke with seemed to have been taken by surprise by the news, so there’s no telling if Miller was given any kind of warning or advance notice or what happened.

Yesterday they were running ads with him and saying he was on in the mornings, so I figured he was on vacation. But they pretty much did the same thing when Steve Gill left, and I didn’t realize he wasn’t on vacation for a few weeks. Be a shame if he was canned; took me a few weeks to get used to him, but I got to liking him. Just looking at their web site, they’ve got “Nashville’s Morning News” on from 5 am to 9, but their Liddy schedule is wrong so who knows.

I think that Kevin Miller must have angered some people. I honestly could not stand him; he seemed quite sexiest.

I called WTN this morning and talking to the same surprised lady. It seems odd that they would can him right after his rally for the troops. WTN should inform its listeners to some extent. I wish Kevin had a website….

Angela’s comment about him being a bit sexist is warranted. He is apparently recently divorced and is not shy at all about telegraphing his intentions to find another woman, even to the extent of flirting on the air with practically every woman that calls in, trying to discover whether they are married or not. Doesn’t bother me personally, but I was getting tired of hearing it and I suspect it didn’t set well with others as well. This whole thing smells of controversy, and I’d say that is why the station is being tight lipped about it.

Could be Al….hmm….I don’t guess I listened closely enough or often enough to notice he was sexist
I only occasionally listened to him…..I preferred my iPod. I do listen to Phil Valentine every day though, instead of my iPod

I hope Kevin Miller wasn’t canned because of his opinons about illegal aliens. So how can we get to the bottom of this mystery? Anyone who has any information about Kevin Miller please post.

Kevin Miller is gone…I’m not exactly sure of the ‘real’ reason (most likely due to poor ratings). Ralph Bristol will be taking his place 4/16. http://www.ralphbristol.com

Thanks Brandon….looking at his page, specifically this: http://www.ralphbristol.com/aboutshow.asp
I don’t know that I’d like him…..I’ll check him out but that page doesn’t paint him in a good light, to me

It really is a shame that WTN doesn’t keep their listeners in the loop. I’ve been wondering since the middle of last week as to the whereabouts of Mr. Miller.
I too in the beginning didn’t like him much. But I must admit that he really grew on me. I wish him well and hope the new guy can fill his shoes.
Good Luck Kevin!

I liked Kevin. I am suprised to see his friend Mountz let him go, but we do not what is behind the scenes. I can tell you one thing. All you G. Gordon Liddy fans, John Mountz in his dumb decision making, his spending money on unknown local talent and booting the G Man out of his time slot. If you want to hear him live, he will be on 1450 am in M’boro. I hope WTN will put him on at night at least. What is Kevin’s email?

I also would like to know Kevin’s email address. He grew on me too. I hate the way WWTN does when someone leaves. They could make some sort of announcement or at least post it to the website. I personally cannot stand G. Gordon Liddy or Dave Ramsey’s shows. They both seem like great guys and I like their politics, just not there shows. I wished WTN would get Shawn Hannity on their station.

I’ve been listening to Ralph Bristol here in Greenville SC for years. He is a great guy and always has an interesting show. He is warm, funny, polite, and very intelligent. I hope you guys enjoy him over there in Nashville. I am sure going to miss him.

I was wonder if Miller had gotten the axe from WTN. He may have rubbed some of the higher-ups the wrong way with his treatment of “Good Time Mary” Winkler. As long as WTN is keeping quiet, there’s nothing to do but guess. I’d like to know what the management’s opinion of him at WPTF in Raleigh was.

I find it really lame of WTN to keep everyone in the dark. I enjoyed listening to Kevin and he put it out there. Kevin always seemed appreciative of his job and his freedom.
Thanks for posting a discussion on the Kevin canned issue.

I listened to Kevin every morning, and I enjoyed him immensely.
I kept trying to do a google search and found this article, I am very
sad they released him, he was a very good host as far as I am concerned.
I never felt him being sexest. Miss you Kevin Miller, good luck
wherever you may be.

i listened to Kevin every morning, since Steve Gill. It took me a while to get used to him, but I did like him. I don’t care for the new quy. Yesturday I heard his voice on a commercial so I thought he was back, but he wasn’t. I do to find this odd since he never said anything. Steve Gill at least warned everyone. I think Channel 2 news or Channel 4 should investigate. I will not be listening to 99.7 in the mornings any more. The only person I listen to know when I can is Phil valentine.

I don’t really like Ralph Bristol in the mornings either, and I don’t see him lasting long. I mean, he seems nice enough, but I don’t ever listen longer than a minute or two.

Kevin Miller on WTN Cancelled

The only show i care to listen to now on talk radio wtn 99.7 is Phil Valentine, but working second shift i cannot listen to that now. Again
I will miss Kevin. Wish there was a email to write him to.

I can see why you folks might have reservations about Ralph…no one likes the guy who took the place of their preferred host. It is a tough situation for everyone. Tough for Kevin, tough for Ralph, tough for the listeners.
Radio stations are pretty cutthroat…and frequently heartless.
IF they keep Ralph around for a while, you might grow to enjoy him.
Who knows, someday we might be having this conversation about “what happened to Ralph? Man, this new guy stinks that they replaced him with.”

Tim,
I didnt like Kevin’s show and up to this point, I am not a fan of Ralphs either.
G. Gordon Liddy can only speak a coherent sentence when he is reading from a news article or a quote by someone else.
(I do agree with most of what these three men believe though)
WWTN needs to give O’Reilly some air time and do everything they can to keep Uncle Phil on the lineup.

Since Kevin left, I won’t be listening in the mornings either. If WTN doesn’t have the respect or courtesy to let its listeners know that their morning host has been removed then I do not care to listen to their programming in the mornings and possibly any other timeframe. If he needed to be let go for serious reasons, then that’s fine. But making me listen to Laura Ingram(sp?) in the mornings for weeks and then bring Ralph on with no announcement that Kevin was leaving really irks me. The only shows I still like are Dave and Phil so I guess I’ll find something else in the mornings, like Jerry House or some other show. However, this Mr. Degornio(sp? again) reminds me much of Kevin in his voice and conviction.

Miller later moved “Miller in the Morning” to SuperTalk 99.7 WTN in Nashville, Tennessee, which ran only a few months from August 2006 to March 2007. He has filled in recently for Fred Honsberger on Pittsburgh’s KDKA during Fred’s Easter vacation.

Yeah, it’s a shame that Kevin’s no longer on the air at WTN. I found him to be very down-to-earth and entertaining. He came across as a real human being, and wasn’t afraid to reveal his imperfections to his audience. That’s sort of endearing, if you ask me.
Plus, his background is inspiring: a former soldier who graduated from college and taught in the public school system before following his dream and working for free at a radio station somewhere up north. From what I gathered, he’s been bouncing from station-to-station since then, slowly moving up the ladder. I know Nashville’s not the biggest city in the world, but I image it’s a pretty big deal to get your own radio show in a market of this size.
I’m also angry that WTN didn’t offer its listeners any explanation for why Kevin (or any host for that matter) was taken off the air. I imagine he was fired for some reason, because I heard the news that he did some fill-in work at a station in Pittsburgh (see above post).
I wish Kevin the best of luck wherever he lands next. The community that gets him will be lucky to have him, that’s for sure. I’ll miss Kevin’s humility and humbleness. But maybe that’s not what gets ratings — maybe people want another Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.
I, for one, would rather have someone unique who cares about our community and doesn’t view the job simply as a stepping stone for the next gig.

Apparently we were just a stepping stone. This must have been in the works for a while. WTN could not have snatched up Ralph so quickly.
I was upset with WTN at first for not saying something, but looking back it is more apparent that Kevin left for bigger – better things up in the beltway. It’s closer to Washington, and I think that’s his target. I’m not upset at Kevin for making the move, but I do wish that he would have at least told his audience that he was leaving…maybe legal/contract issues prevent that.
Moving forward…I like Ralph. His views challenge mine a bit more than Kevin’s did…so as Ralph says, I get a bit more of a mental work-out listening to him.

Oops.
I thought KDKA was in Philly. Why would he split for Pittsburgh? Closer to home I guess…he’s from Ohio…unless I have that wrong too.
