The so-called American Civil Liberties Union has been filing lawsuits left and right on behalf of illegal immigrants, suing the governments (state, federal and otherwise) of this country for daring to try to put a halt to illegal immigration, a federal crime!
They are defending people who have committed federal crimes, saying the government cannot stop and detain them because they suspect they have committed a federal crime. That is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard.
The ACLU also claims that the immigrants have rights. Direct from their Web site comes this paragraph:
It is true that the Constitution does not give foreigners the right to enter the U.S. But once here, it protects them from discrimination based on race and national origin and from arbitrary treatment by the government. Immigrants work and pay taxes; legal immigrants are subject to the military draft. Many immigrants have lived in this country for decades, married U.S. citizens, and raised their U.S.-citizen children. Laws that punish them violate their fundamental right to fair and equal treatment.
Their fundamental right to fair and equal treatment? Do we give other federal criminals fair and equal treatment? Why should we offer it to these federal criminals?
ACLU, if you’re going to continue to attack the governments of this country on behalf of those here illegally, breaking our federal laws, you cannot in good conscience call yourselves the American Civil Liberties Union. You are choosing to place yourselves in an adversarial position with this country and its citizens. Maintaining the “A” in your organization’s name is false advertising at best.
