I am putting together a mix CD for my two-year-old and am trying to pick songs that send her a good message or say things that I as her father want to say to her. Of course, there are lots of father-daughter songs that people play at wedding receptions, but most of these are more appropriate for fathers of adult daughters or fathers of daughters getting married. I found a couple, though, that are appropriate for any father to dedicate to his daughter. Comment and add more to the list if you think of any.
- Jimmy Buffett — Little Miss Magic
- Jimmy Buffett — Mademoiselle (Voulez-Vous Danser)
- Paul Simon — Father and Daughter
- The Pretenders — I’ll Stand By You

Have you heard that new song “Give You A Way”? It’s a Father-Daughter Duet. It’s written for a wedding dance, but the majority of the song is about the love between the Father and Daughter. My friend played it at her wedding and all of the Dad’s were crying. Definitely worth a listen.
The artist is independent so your best bet is to listen to it at http://www.myspace.com/chantalsoudant. BTW, your daughter is a lucky girl!
