The HOV lane is the left lane of the interstate. It is clearly marked as such, and the signs say that if you are headed towards Nashville, the left lane is for cars with 2 or more people only, from 7am-9am. If you are headed away from Nashville, the left lane is for cars with 2 or more people only, from 4pm-6pm.
Pretty darn easy to understand, right? Then why do I constantly get passed by people driving alone in the HOV lane during the HOV lane hours?! It’s amazing how many people fly past in that lane, all by their lonesome selves. Do you think you don’t have to wait like the rest of us? Do you think the law doesn’t apply to you?
Even worse is when I see a car in the HOV lane illegally tailgating a car legally in that lane, then whipping around them angrily because they are not going 85 in a 70 MPH zone. You shouldn’t even be in that lane if you’re alone….where the h*** do you get off getting angry at someone in the lane legally?
If you are in your car alone, STAY OUT OF THE HOV LANE DURING THE POSTED HOURS! And if you don’t, you have no one to blame but yourself (and have no room to complain) when you get a ticket.
